DVD 01 – 01 Mr. Big This is the black and white pilot episode featuring KAOS’ Mr. Big, blackmailing CONTROL saying he will use his Interhmo Ray against the Statue of Liberty, unless CONTROL pays him $100 million. By finding a rubber banana peel Max, 99, and Fang go to a garbage scow which turns out to be Mr. Big’s hideout.
S01-E001 DVD 01 – 02 Our Man in Toyland CONTROL is puzzled as to how KAOS has been managing to secretly smuggle secrets out of the country. 99 works as a saleswoman and discovers that KAOS is using Bower’s Department Store to store secrets into Polly Dolly (a doll) so that when they are shipped out of the country, they don’t give doll talk, they give out secrets. Max and 99 were able to “toy” their way out of this one.
S01-E002 DVD 01 – 03 KAOS in CONTROL CONTROL is supposed to host a major peace conference but there is a double-agent in CONTROL threatening to ruin it. The Chief of Internal Security, Maxwell Smart, is assigned to make sure it goes smoothly. Apparently the invention of a retrogresser gun by a scientist creates a disturbance within CONTROL. Max was able to pull his way out of this one, but had a tough time keeping his pants on.
S01-E003 DVD 01 – 04 School Days KAOS agents have been able to get into CONTROL’S spy school. Max and Fang have been assigned to go undercover as students with 99 as the instructor. Although Max fails every test in spy school, he was still able to determine the impostor.
S01-E004 DVD 01 – 05 Diplomat’s Daughter Max and 99 have been instructed to protect Princess Ingrid, a silly child who can care less about being protected. Despite their efforts, they end up in the Craw’s domain.
S01-E005 DVD 01 – 06 Now You See Him, Now You Don’t Dr. Haskel, a doctor who defected from CONTROL, claims that he was being held captive in KAOS, but managed to escape using an invisibility ray. Max is determined to see if the ray is for real or not, but gets kidnapped along the way.
S01-E006 DVD 01 – 07 Washington 4, Indians 3 A group of aggressive Indians demand the return of all Indian lands taken from them or they will fire their secret weapon (a giant arrow) on Washington. Max disguises himself as an Indian, manages his way into the camp, and saves Washington from “destruction”.
S01-E007 DVD 01 – 08 Our Man in Leotards Dancer and rebel Enilio Naharana steals a new CONTROL drug, Immobilo. She plans to use it against the Ambassador of Pinerovia. Disguised as dancers, Max and 99 foil a peach of a plot.
S01-E008 DVD 01 – 09 The Day Smart Turned Chicken A dying cowboy comes to Max’s apartment to reveal a plot to poison the Morovian Ambassador at a costume party that night. The cowboy disappears and the chief refuses to believe Max, forcing him to save the ambassador himself, dressed as a giant chicken.
S01-E009 DVD 01 – 10 Satan Place KAOS manages to kidnap the Chief and freeze him to prepare him for mind-control surgery. Max disguises himself as a doctor the doctor who is supposed to carry out the surgery, and rescues him from the “cold” Harvey Satan.
S01-E010 DVD 01 – 11 Too Many Chiefs Alexi Sebastian, a great impersonator, tries to kill Tanya Lupescu, who is about to reveal the secrets of KAOS’ codes. Max hides Tanya in his apartment, where Sebastian, disguised as the Chief shows up. It gets really confusing when the real Chief also shows up at the same place.
S01-E011 DVD 02 – 01 My Nephew the Spy While innocently buying shoes, Max stops in a shoe store that is a KAOS front. Max returns to his apartment, unknowingly followed by a KAOS killer whose plans are ruined by the arrival of Max’s Uncle Abner and Aunt Bertha.
S01-E012 DVD 02 – 02 Weekend Vampire CONTROL agents are being found murdered with mysterious marks on their necks. The weather conditions of the investigation force Max and 99 to pose as newly weds, as a result they get lead to Dr. Drago.
S01-E013 DVD 02 – 03 Aboard the Orient Express Max is assigned to carry a payroll briefcase (”strapped” to him) on a trip on the Orient Express. The trip becomes dangerous when Agent 44 refuses to help Max because he hasn’t been paid. Johnny Carson has an appearance as the conductor.
S01-E014 DVD 02 – 04 Double Agent Max is assigned to become a drunken, broken agent in the hopes KAOS will try to recruit him. He is forced to disassociate himself from both Fang and 99 to make the plot work. After much effort, finally KAOS recruits him and his first assignment is to kill 99.
S01-E015 DVD 02 – 05 Survival of the Fattest Max is assigned to protect an Arab prince, who must stay fat in order to stay in power. Unfortunately, the prince is kidnapped by Mary Jack Armstrong the world’s strongest woman.
S01-E016 DVD 02 – 06 Kisses for KAOS CONTROL suspects art dealer Rex Savage is blowing up embassies with his artwork. 99 goes undercover to romance Savage into giving her his fingerprints, only to find this task extremely difficult. Max is forced to play the role of 99’s chauffeur.
S01-E017 DVD 02 – 07 The Dead Spy Scrawls CONTROL is desperately seeking the location of the new KAOS communications center. The Dead Spy Scrawls reveal it to be in Mother’s Family Pool Parlor. 99 uses a remote control cue ball to cover Max’s terrible pool skills when playing against the great “Shark”. Leonard Nimoy plays one of KAOS’ killers.
S01-E018 DVD 02 – 08 Back to the Old Drawing Board KAOS has a new weapon to try and kidnap Professor Shotwire…Hymie. Hymie takes the role of being a CONTROL agent assisting Max’s duty of protecting the professor. After Hymie becomes programmed for “good”, he admits that he admitted he is considering pursuing a career at IBM.
S01-E019 DVD 02 – 09 Smart, the Assassin Every day Max and the Chief get together to play chess at the Regency Club and every day Max loses. KAOS kidnaps Max and hypnotizes him so that he shoots whoever says “checkmate.” Unfortunately for KAOS, Max brought along his book on chess and decides to use some tactics when playing against the Chief.
S01-E020 DVD 02 – 10 All in the Mind A KAOS psychiatrist is giving away confidential information that he learns in his sessions. Max visits the psychiatrist posing as an insane colonel in order to get proof.
S01-E021 DVD 02 – 11 Dear Diary Retired agent “The Gaffer” has been kidnapped and his diary is missing. Worried for the Gaffer and the secrets in his diary, Max and 99 go to the Retired Spies Home collaborate with the retired agents in order to find out who stole the diary. Later in this episode we learn who Max’s idle is.
S01-E022 DVD 03 – 01 I’m Only Human
CONTROL receives a sour attitude from Fang forcing him to retire, but Max forces the Chief to send him undercover at a KAOS kennel. The kennel has been having pets kill their owners for KAOS.S01-E023 DVD 03 – 02 Stakeout on Blue Mist Mountain KAOS agents are bring in an atomic bomb, piece by piece, and taking it to a hideout on Blue Mist Mountain. Max pretends to be a KAOS agent and takes the final piece to the mountain, where KAOS enables the bomb. Lucky for the world, Max didn’t wear his bow tie. Ted Knight makes an appearance as a KAOS agent.
S01-E024 DVD 03 – 03 The Amazing Harry Who Max follows a KAOS agent to San Francisco, where the agent gets murdered. Ace detective Harry Who joins Max in tracking down the murderer, who turns out to be the Craw.
S01-E025 DVD 03 – 04 Hubert’s Unfinished Symphony Musician and CONTROL agent Hubert is murdered before he can tell CONTROL who the new Mr. Big is at KAOS. 99 assists Max (who claimed he didn’t know anything about music), the music critic in solving the murder.
S01-E026 DVD 03 – 05 Ship of Spies, Part I KAOS has stolen the plans to the nuclear amphibian battleship and hid them on the freighter Lucky Star. Max and 99 get on the freighter and search for the murderer, while 44 hides out below with a cargo hold full of monkeys. This episode won an Emmy for outstanding comedy writing.

S01-E028 DVD 03 – 07 Shipment to Beirut
KAOS is using a clothes designer to smuggle plans. Max gets taken off the case by the Chief after claiming that a model who was supposed to sell information regarding KAOS’ plot to Max turns into a mannequin. Instead 99 gets the case, but Max disobeys the Chief’s orders to save 99 from becoming a mannequin. This is the first episode that Max gets a unofficial commendation and official reprimand.S01-E029 DVD 03 – 08 The Last One in is a Rotten Spy
A member of the Russian swim team is in danger and calls on Max to save her. Unfortunately, Max didn’t have a pen around to write her name, so he forgets it, forcing Max to take the role of a swimming trainer so he can rescue team member.S01-E030 Get Smart Season Two
DVD 03 – 09 Anatomy of a Lover KAOS reprograms Hymie and he tries to kill the Chief. Max is order to dismantle Hymie, but instead he hides Hymie in his apartment, where Hymie meets the Chief’s niece.
S02-E005 DVD 03 – 10 Strike While the Agent is Hot Agent 47 dies, leaving Max in charge of the Spys’ Guild labor negotiations. Max proves to be a ruthless negotiator and gets a deathbed contract from the Chief.
S02-E003 DVD 04 – 01 A Spy for a Spy The Chief is kidnapped by a magician named Siegfried, who tries to swap the Chief for the X11. Max is unable to raise the money to pay the ransom so he kidnaps KAOS’ top agent, which sets off a wave of kidnappings. This is the first appearance of Siegfried.
S02-E001 DVD 04 – 02 The Only Way to Die Max survives a murder attempt, but CONTROL tells everyone he died so that Max can catch the Blaster, who blows up government buildings. While mourning, 99 takes an assignment guarding Antonio Carlos Carioca, who is really the Blaster.
S02-E002 DVD 04 – 03 Maxwell Smart, Alias Jimmy Ballantine Max investigates a barber shop that is a KAOS front. Disguised as safecracker Jimmy Ballantine, Max breaks into the Federal Reserve Bank.
S02-E004 DVD 04 – 04 Kiss of Death Max rescues Tracy Dunhill, a rich heiress who then falls in love with him. Unknown to Max, Dunhill is faking her love and is planning to kill Max with poison lipstick.
S02-E006 DVD 04 – 05 Casablanca Max is ordered to vacation in Canada, but instead he pursues the Choker to Casablanca. 99 is already there undercover and she fails to recognize Max, who also fails to recognize her.
S02-E007 DVD 04 – 06 The Greatest Spy on Earth Max and 99 go undercover at a circus to find a KAOS diamond smuggling ring. This features one of the greatest characters ever created by Buck Henry, Gertrude/Gerald, the half-man half-woman sideshow freak.
S02-E008 DVD 04 – 07 Rub-a-Dub-Dub…Three Spies in a Sub 1/2 Max and 99 end up captured in a KAOS sub commanded by Siegfried. The Chief is then forced to decide between torpedoing the sub and killing his friends or letting the sub escape.
S02-E010 DVD 04 – 08 The Decoy CONTROL sets KAOS up to believe the Max is carrying a new code. KAOS kidnaps him and uses several methods, except torture, to try and extract the new code from him.
S02-E011 DVD 04 – 09 Bronzefinger Max learns about art to try and capture notorious art thief, Bronzefinger. Unfortunately, all of Max’s suspects get murdered by Bronzefinger and both 99 and he fall into the metallic grasp of Bronzefinger.
S02-E012 DVD 04 – 10 Hoo Done It In an Agatha Christie take-off, Colonel Forsythe is murdered in a tropical hotel. Max and hotel guest Harry Hoo try and find the murder as all the other guests disappear one by one.
S02-E009 DVD 04 – 11 Island of the Darned Hans Hunter has set up an island where he hunts CONTROL agents for fun and profit. He captures 86 and 99 and forces them in a hunt for their lives.
S02-E014 DVD 05 – 01 Perils in a Pet Shop Max follows the clues from a talking KAOS parrot to Kilmen’s Pet Shop. Max discovers that the pet shop is home base for Melnick, the Smiling Killer. Melnick was named after Dan Melnick, a partner in Talent Associates, the production company of Get Smart.
S02-E015 DVD 05 – 02 It Takes One to Know One Femme fatale Octavia is destroying the number two men of CONTROL, driving them wild with lust. The Chief appoints Hymie the new number two man, knowing that he’ll be immune from Octavia’s charms. Unfortunately for CONTROL, the Chief doesn’t know Octavia’s big secret.
S02-E016 DVD 05 – 03 Cutback at CONTROL A Senate investigating committee is close to closing down CONTROL. 86 then goes to work for KAOS, hoping he can find something big to convince the Senate to keep CONTROL in existence.
S02-E018 DVD 05 – 04 The Mummy KAOS is smuggling its agents into America in mummy cases and returning the mummy cases with kidnapped CONTROL agents. Max gets kidnapped, wrapped in bandages, and paralyzed, but still manages to save the day.
S02-E019 DVD 05 – 05 The Girls From KAOS A beauty pageant is the background for this episode. Max is assigned to protect Miss USA, while another contestant is a KAOS plant.
S02-E020 DVD 05 – 06 Smart Fit the Battle of Jericho Buildings built by Joshua Construction somehow keep blowing up. Max goes undercover as a construction worker to try and discover why.
S02-E022 DVD 05 – 07 Where-What-How-Who Am I? 86 overhears a KAOS plot to kill U.S. space scientists. Before he can warn them, Max suffers amnesia in a car crash. Rather than kill him, KAOS keeps feeding Max amnesia pills so that he can’t spoil their plan.
S02-E023 DVD 05 – 08 How to Succeed in the Spy Business Without Really Trying While in a KAOS shootout, Max and 99 are saved by Siegfried, who kills a KAOS agent and then announces his attention to defect. KAOS tries to kill Siegfried before he can reveal their “Operation Big K” at CONTROL’s annual Chief’s Banquet. In this episode, we learn that Siegfried’s nastiness comes from his parent’s refusal to give him a sled.
S02-E024 DVD 05 – 09 The Expendable Agent British scientist Professor Whitakker comes to the U.S. to reveal his new rocket fuel formula. Max hides the professor at his apartment, where’s he’s helped by British agent Chain. Smart has a difficult time believing that anyone as clumsy as Chain can be a secret agent.
S02-E025 DVD 05 – 10 A Man Called Smart, Part 1 KAOS steals a water evaporation formula and blackmails the country by threatening to dry up all its water. Max’s informant, character actor Russell Bedioyskin, is shot, as is the Chief in a hospital shootout. Admiral Hardgrave comes back to CONTROL to lead it through this crisis as Max and 99 head to California.

S02-E030 DVD 06 – 02 Appointment in Sahara KAOS gets a nuclear bomb and tries to blackmail the world into total disarmament. Max and 99 are sent to the Sahara to try and locate and destroy the KAOS bomb.
S02-E026 DVD 06 – 03 Pussycats Galore Important scientists have been disappearing from Pussycat Clubs so Max and 99 disguise themselves as Fritz and Greta Braun, married German scientists. They are ably assisted by CONTROL agent Charlie Weaver, who disguises himself as a Pussycat. This episode is Ted Knight’s second appearance as a KAOS agent.
S02-E027 DVD 06 – 04 Someone Down Here Hates Me Siegfried puts a $250,000 contract out on Max. Worse than that, if they don’t kill Max, the annual KAOS barbeque and bingo party is canceled. Max becomes a paranoid wreck and then decides plastic surgery is the only way to avoid getting killed.
S02-E017 DVD 06 – 05 The Man From Yenta Israel’s intelligence agency, Yenta, sends Agent 498 to help CONTROL protect arab Prince Abu Ben Bubbie. Despite working on a shoestring (Israel is a small country), 498, 86, & 99 defeat LeMoco, KAOS’ master of disguise, even though everybody in the room is dressed as an arab prince.
S02-E021 DVD 06 – 06 The Whole Tooth and… Max is carrying plans for a nuclear reactor when he is spotted by KAOS. He hides the tooth in the mouth of a man on his way to jail, forcing Max to become a convict to get the tooth back.
S02-E013 Get Smart Season Three
DVD 06 – 07 Viva Smart San Saludos’s dictator, General Pajarito, has imprisoned ex-president Don Carlos. CONTROL sends Max and 99, disguised as flamenco dancers, to restore Don Carlos to power.
S03-E001 DVD 06 – 08 Witness for the Persecution Max is scheduled to testify against Mr. Tudbury, a KAOS leader. Tudbury orders an all- out KAOS effort to “Get Smart” before he can testify. Max’s apartment gets a whole new array of protective devices to keep him safe.
S03-E002 DVD 06 – 09 Supersonic Boom After attacking CONTROL headquarters with a sonic boom, KAOS threatens to use their sonic booms to destroy New York City. Max tracks the KAOS plotters to a car wash, but he can’t stop them from using the sonic boom machine.
S03-E006 DVD 06 – 10 The Groovy Guru The Groovy Guru, played by Larry Storch, plans to incite the nation’s youth to riot. He’ll do this by broadcast a special song during his live broadcast, unless CONTROL can stop him. The best part of this episode is watching the ’60’s dancing.
S03-E015 DVD 07 – 01 One of Our Olives is Missing Carol Burnett guest-stars as country singer Ozark Annie. She accidentally swallows a KAOS transmitter disguised as an olive, and Max must protect her from KAOS before they cut the olive out. To complicate matters, Annie develops a crush on Max. Burnett is brilliant and her scenes with Adams are some of the funniest bits of the series.
S03-E007 DVD 07 – 02 99 Loses Control Casino owner Victor Royal proposes to 99 and she accepts, resigning from CONTROL. Max, unable to control himself, goes to work for Royal as his bodyguard and discovers that Royal is a KAOS agent. In this episode, 99 states her name to be Susan Hilton. While many trivia quizzes list this as 99’s real name, at the end of the episode, 99 states that it’s a cover name and not her real real name.
S03-E019 DVD 07 – 03 The Hot Line KAOS discovers the phone number of the Chief’s hot line. They impersonate the president and order Max to take over CONTROL. Max does and sends the chief undercover as a singing waiter. John Byner appears as a KAOS agent. The Chief reveals that he was an agent so long ago that he doesn’t have a number, just a letter.
S03-E024 DVD 07 – 04 The King Lives The King of Coronia arrives and Washington and he’s the spitting image of Max. The two switch roles as Max tries to foil the evil machinations of the King’s evil half-brother Basil.(Evil half-brothers are always named Basil)
S03-E014 DVD 07 – 05 When Good Fellows Get Together KAOS, tired of Hymie foiling their plots, activates Groppo, the world’s strongest and meanest robot. The only way Hymie can defeat Groppo is to be reprogrammed for evil, but he refuses and tries to make friends with Groppo.
S03-E008 DVD 07 – 06 Run, Robot, Run Snead and Neal, of KAOS’ CAD division, disrupt an international track meet by injuring the U.S. players. Another parody, this one of the Avengers, is right on the mark. The only way to preserve our country’s honor is for Hymie to enter the track meet and Max to protect him.
S03-E023 DVD 07 – 07 That Old Gang of Mind British CONTROL needs Max to go undercover as the Scar, an American safecracker. He and 99 go to London where Max joins the Scorpion Gang in their attempt to steal the crown jewels.
S03-E010 DVD 07 – 08 The Mysterious Dr. T When a top CONTROL scientist dies, he confesses that he was just a front for Dr. T, the real genius. Max and Siegfried both hunt for Dr. T, only to find he’s a little younger than they had expected.
S03-E013 DVD 07 – 09 The Wax Max Showing off for 99 at an amusement park’s shooting gallery, Max wins 99 a kewpie doll. He also unwittingly gives the carny worker a KAOS code phrase and receives a plutonium kewpie doll. KAOS empties the park and captures them in the chamber of horrors, filled with terrifying wax images.
S03-E020 DVD 07 – 10 Operation Ridiculous Week News Magazine arrives at CONTROL to do a profile piece on the agency. A toupee-wearing chief assigns the writers to Max, hoping a good story will mean more funds for the agency. However, KAOS sets up traps to make Max’s ineptness even more obvious and it looks like the story for CONTROL will be bad.
S03-E021 DVD 07 – 11 Die,Spy It’s the move KAOS and CONTROL have been dreading, the introduction of a third spy agency, ACB. Max and new agent Samuels, a Bill Cosby act-alike, become traveling ping pong performers to flush out Kubacheck, the head of ACB. This episode is a brilliant parody of I Spy and even features Robert Culp in a hysterical cameo as a waiter.
S03-E026 DVD 08 – 01 Don’t Look Back A look-alike robs a bank and kills a guard, sending Max to prison for murder. Max escapes from Sgt. Gronski and a fugitive from the law, tries to find the one-armed man who committed the robbery and framed him. What was this a spinoff of?
S03-E018 DVD 08 – 02 Dr. Yes Is this a funny episode? Yes. Jawhol. Oui. Da. Si. Dr. Yes is sabotaging missile launches for KAOS and Max and 99 go to Lost Lake to track down Dr. Yes.
S03-E009 DVD 08 – 03 Maxwell Smart, Private Eye CONTROL cutbacks force Max and 99 to become private eyes. They get hired by Mr. Sydney and Mr. Peter, two Maltese Falcon impersonators and the spoof begins.
S03-E005 DVD 08 – 04 The Spy Who Met Himself The KAOS League of Impersonators is at work(KAOS sure does have a lot of impersonators) trying to take over CONTROL. The real Max meets the fake Max and is saved by the real Chief, or is it the fake Chief?
S03-E003 DVD 08 – 05 Spy,Spy,Birdie Albert Pfister(the P is silent) appears at Max’s apartment and asks Max to sign a petition against noise. Max refuses and Pfister starts blowing up the world, using his new silent explosive. After accusing each other of masterminding the plot, Max and Siegfried join forces to track down Pfister.
S03-E022 DVD 09 – 01 The Little Black Book, Part I Max’s old army buddy Sid (Don Rickles) arrives in town unexpectedly and wants to go out on the town and find some women. He uses Max’s little black book to arrange a double date, not knowing that the book he used was a KAOS book. The girls turn out to be KAOS agents and Sid refuses to believe that Max is really a spy.

S03-E017 DVD 09 – 03 The Spirit is Willing Max’s new informer, Ann Ferris, promises to deliver evidence implicating Paul John Mondebello, top KAOS leader. Unfortunately, Ann Ferris was killed by Mondebello years earlier, so Max must hold a seance to get his evidence.
S03-E004 DVD 09 – 04 The Reluctant Redhead CONTROL wants to get The Krispin Papers, files that contain a list of KAOS informers and agents. Krispin will only exchange the files for his missing wife Amanda. Since they don’t have Amanda, CONTROL assigns Max to convert mousy lookalike Mimsi Sage into wild and crazy Amanda Krispin. Cesar Romero guest stars.
S03-E025 DVD 09 – 05 Classification: Dead Max gets poisoned by a female KAOS agent and is doomed to die at one o’clock. Dr. Steele, CONTROL’s scientist and stripper, tells Max that she can make an antidote if he can get a sample of the poison. He goes on a search for Mr. Hercules, the KAOS agent who ordered the poisoning.
S03-E012 DVD 09 – 06 The Mild Ones A gang of hippie motorcycle bandits, The Purple Knights, kidnap a foreign prime minister. Max and 99 become “Wheels” and “Legs” and infiltrate the gang.
S03-E011 Get Smart Season Four
DVD 09 – 07 The Impossible Mission The only really funny part in this episode is the opening, a clever parody of Mission:Impossible. Max and 99 go undercover as a musician and a dancer to prevent the Leader from obliterating the human race. Trapped, with seemingly no escape, Max tells 99 that he’d marry her if they can escape. 99 then devises a plan and the engagement is on.
S04-E001 DVD 09 – 08 Snoopy Smart vs. the Red Baron KAOS has devised a new chemical that has wiped out the entire potato crop of the U.S. While investigating in Idaho, Max and 99 stop off at 99’s mother to discuss their engagement. There, they find Siegfried working as a KAOS crop duster, about to destroy the entire vegatable crop, even kumquats!
S04-E002 DVD 09 – 09 Closely Watched Planes Max is assigned to protect a CONTROL courier, who disappears during an airline flight. Max becomes the next courier and 99 works as a flight attendant to discover how KAOS is kidnapping the agents. The cockpit fight scene is a classic.
S04-E003 DVD 09 – 10 The Secret of Sam Vittorio Dying mobster Sam Vittorio will only reveal the location of his hidden loot to his protégés, Connie and Floyd, who look remarkably like Max and 99. Using their appearance to its advantage, Max and 99 visit Sam, but the real Connie and Floyd break jail and also show up at Sam’s bedside.
S04-E004 DVD 09 – 11 Diamonds Are a Spy’s Best Friend While buying 99’s engagement ring, Max stumbles on a robbery and receives a huge diamond to keep it out of the thieves hands. Returning to the jeweler, Max follows clues to a bowling alley and The League of Bald Men.
S04-E005 DVD 10 – 01 The Worst Best Man As soon as Max asks someone to be his best man, they get killed or severely injured by KAOS. The Chief orders Max to make Hymie his best man, since Hymie is indestructible. This falls right into KAOS’s plans to ruin Max’s bachelor party. This is another episode that has confused many trivia buffs. Though this episode clearly has Hymie about to become best man, Hymie is not in the wedding episode.
S04-E006 DVD 10 – 02 The Return of the Ancient Mariner The Admiral returns to speak at a top secret conference and also be Max’s best man, since the Chief sent Hymie out of the country. Another KAOS disguise expert, the Chameleon, tries to kidnap the Admiral and take his place at the conference.
S04-E008 DVD 10 – 03 A Tale of Two Tails Max is teaching tailing at spy school and assigns two rookie agents to follow 99 as she picks up wedding items. Unknown to Max, 99 is also on assignment and is really picking up the Gaul Formula. She spots the tails and believes them to be KAOS agents.
S04-E007 DVD 10 – 04 With Love and Twitches On the night before his wedding, Max meets with Dr. Madre, who’s escaped from KAOS with the plans to the Melnick uranium mine. Dr. Madre has Max unknowingly drink the map, which will appear as a map on his chest, but only if Max remains standing for 48 hours. KAOS kidnaps Max and Dr. Madre and Max must escape and remain standing if he is to make it to his wedding and preserve the map.
S04-E009 DVD 10 – 05 The Laser Blazer Max goes to a Hong Kong tailor to pick up a new secret weapon, but returns with only a suit. Leaving the suit for 99 to send to the cleaners, Max goes to the Chief to tell him his mission was a failure. The Chief reveals that the blazer is the weapon and it fires a laser every time you put your hand in its pocket.
S04-E010 DVD 10 – 06 The Farkas Fracas Max invites the Chief over for dinner, upsetting 99 because she has no dessert ready and the Chief loves dessert. 99 borrows dessert from her nosy next-door neighbor, Naomi Farkas, who is a KAOS spy and who poisons the chocolate mousse. Tom Bosley and Alice Ghostley appear as the Farkas’ in an episode that is a favorite of famed Sports Illustrated writer Tim Kurkjian.
S04-E011 DVD 10 – 07 Temporarily Out of CONTROL Just before Max is to leave on his honeymoon, he and the Chief are called to active duty in the Navy. When the two new sailors need to leave the ship to capture a spy, they can’t convince the captain that they’re spies and they’re sent to the brig.
S04-E012 DVD 10 – 08 Schwartz’s Island While sailing on their honeymoon, Max blows up the boat, marooning them on a deserted island. The island is an artificial island, built by KAOS and commanded by Siegfried, contains a giant magnet that will lure the U.S. Navy into a deathtrap. The island is supposedly named Schwartz’s island after the KAOS scientist who built it, but it’s really named that because it’s the set for Gilligan’s Island, which was created by Sherwood Schwartz.
S04-E013 DVD 10 – 09 One Nation Invisible Max is visited by Dr. Canyon, who feeds Max her new invisibility potion. Max uses his invisibility to infiltrate KAOS HQ and steal the Finzburg papers, unaware that his invisibility potion is wearing off.
S04-E014 DVD 10 – 10 Hurray for Hollywood KAOS is using a new play to pass information on to its agents. Max gets a role as a butler and 99 as Lady Fannie, where Max takes hamming it up to new heights.
S04-E015 DVD 11 – 01 The Day They Raided the Knights A computer orders 99 laid off when budget cuts hit CONTROL. She goes to work at Knight’s Stamp Redemption Center, which is actually a KAOS front for distributing its stereophonic pistols. The Chief and Larabee disguise themselves as housewives to penetrate the Center.
S04-E016 DVD 11 – 02 Tequila Mockingbird CONTROL wants the Tequila Mockingbird and Max and 99 are sent to Mira Loma to keep it out of KAOS’ clutches. Max poses as a bad doctor and 99 as a dancer where they find an ax with a clue.
S04-E017 DVD 11 – 03 I Shot 86 Today KAOS golfers have been somehow destroying U.S. space centers, so Max and 99 take up golf. Max picks up trick golf supplies from CONTROL and tries to keep an eye on the golf pro, who is really a KAOS agent.
S04-E018 DVD 11 – 04 Absorb the Greek The Chief takes up computer dating and is seeing a gorgeous young woman. Ordered to follow the Chief by the President, Max and 99 try to break up that romance while convincing the Chief to date 99’s mother.
S04-E019 DVD 11 – 05 To Sire, With Love Part I Max’s resemblance to the King of Coronia is needed as the King is endangered by Rupert of Rathskeller. The two switch identities, but Rupert discovers the switch and sends a trained tarantula to kill Max. James Caan appears as Rupert.

S04-E021 DVD 11 – 07 Shock it to Me Ex-dead scientist Dr. Zharko is bringing dead KAOS agents back to life. Max and 99 hunt through caves to find and stop Dr. Zharko, who is wonderfully overplayed by Tom Poston, who many originally wanted to play Maxwell Smart.
S04-E022 DVD 11 – 08 Leadside Wheelchair bound mastermind Leadside is caught in a robbery by Max and announces a three-part plan. Phase one, he will escape from Max. Phase two, he will destroy CONTROL. Phase three, he will kill Maxwell Smart. After Leadside follows through on Phases One and Two, Max holes up in his apartment.
S04-E023 DVD 11 – 09 Greer Window Max gets shot in his buttocks and convalesces at his apartment. From there, he can use binoculars to watch 99 in her undercover assignment at Greer Construction. Helpless, Max sees 99 discovered and in trouble.
S04-E024 DVD 11 – 10 The Not-So-Great-Escape Part I CONTROL agents are being kidnapped at a record pace, and when the Chief is kidnapped at the airport, Max takes over CONTROL. He discovers that the agents are being sent to Camp Gitchee Goommee Noonie Wa-Wa, a KAOS P.O.W. camp in New Jersey. Max disguises himself as Major Kessler and tries to break the agents out of the camp, but his disguise is penetrated by Commadant Siegfried.

DVD 12 – 01 Pheasant Under Glass While trying to rescue Professor Pheasant from a indestructible glass prison, 99 tells Max she’s pregnant. Max gets so excited he tells a reporter that he’s a spy and is forced to have his face changed. Two good cameos from Martin Landau and Phyllis Diller bring this one up a notch.
S05-E001 DVD 12 – 02 Ironhand KAOS is taken over by Ironhand, who oddly enough, has an iron hand. Ironhand tries to steel the AAAMM plans, which 99 is transporting in an armed baby buggy.
S05-E002 DVD 12 – 03 Valerie of the Dolls Max and the Chief enroll in Miss Valerie’s School for Expectant Fathers, a KAOS front. Max accidentally switches his practice baby for a baby containing a secret formula and KAOS is desperate to recover it.
S05-E003 DVD 12 – 04 Widow Often Annie The Chief order Max to marry Ann Cameron, a widow who marries CONTROL agents and then kills them. A pregnant and weepy 99 shows up at their wedding, which is officiated by the Chief.
S05-E004 DVD 12 – 05 The Treasure of C. Errol Madre KAOS steals CONTROL’s bankroll, forcing CONTROL to move their offices into an elevator. Max tries to find the treasure of C. Errol Madre and use it as CONTROL’s new money supply. Unfortunately, he also has to escape banditos and Froggsy Debs.
S05-E005 DVD 12 – 06 Smart Fell on Alabama Max must break into the plantation of Colonel Kyle K. Kirby and retrieve the KAOS code book. To help, CONTROL springs three convicts from prison and gives them freedom if they help in the robbery.

S05-E009 DVD 12 – 10 The Apes of Rath CONTROL agents are receiving bananas in the mail and then being murdered. KAOS is using Jocko, an ape made to look like a human being and currently working as CONTROL agent Armstrong. The plot thickens when Max receives a banana in the mail and Armstrong is assigned as his protector.
S05-E010 DVD 12 – 11 Age Before Duty A CONTROL defector, Felix, uses Dorian Gray paint to prematurely age the members of CONTROL. Felix turns Max, 99, and the Chief into senior citizens as they close in on him.
S05-E011 DVD 13 – 01 Is This Trip Necessary Everyone important in Washington suffers bad dreams, all caused by KAOS. Max and 99 track evil Dr. Pym to the Dartfoot Spring Water Company, where Dr. Pym captures them using “the old mortar in the mortar trick.”
S05-E012 DVD 13 – 02 Ice Station Siegfried The planet is being frozen by a giant KAOS fan in the North Pole. Max gets snowed in, so 99 and CIA Agent Quigley journey to the North Pole to find Mounties Siegfried and Shtarker. Don Adams underwent emergency dental surgery, forcing him to miss this episode and Bill Dana to fill in as Quigley. The only highlight in this is when Shtarker starts acting goofy and Siegfried fails to stop him saying, “It’s the North Pole. You can do whatever you want.”
S05-E013 DVD 13 – 03 Moonlighting Becomes You The Chief worries that living with Max had made 99 clumsy, but he sends her to work undercover on Hannibal Day’s radio show, a KAOS front. Max joins her as the sound effects person and they try to stop the KAOS broadcasts.
S05-E014 DVD 13 – 04 House of Max, Part I Jack the Ripper returns to London as do Max and 99. Helping Scotland Yard track down the killer, they discover that he’s a wax figure brought to life by Raul Duval, owner of Duval’s Cave of Wax.

S05-E017 DVD 13 – 07 The Mess of Adrian Listenger Six CONTROL agents are killer and the common denominator is that they all played on the CONTROL baseball team. The only surviving members are Max, the Chief, and Adrian Listenger, a spy school dropout. When Listenger turns up dead, Max and the Chief suspect each other. Pat Paulsen is wonderful as Ace Weems.
S05-E018 DVD 13 – 08 Witness for the Execution A KAOS defector agrees to testify for CONTROL, so KAOS send the Exterminator to kill him. The Exterminator finds the defector posing as the Smart’s baby-sitter.
S05-E019 DVD 13 – 09 How Green Was My Valey Max and 99 pose as a valet and maid at the Bulmanian Embassy to recover stolen rocket fuel. They must get into the wine cellar to find the fuel, but the only key is around the neck of the ambassador.
S05-E020 DVD 13 – 10 And Only Two Ninety-Nine KAOS kidnaps 99 and replaces her with an imposter(What a supply of look-alikes Kaos had!). She keeps trying to feed Max while the real 99 escapes to try and save Max, because there’s poison in the food.
S05-E021 DVD 13 – 11 Smartacus The Roman Bath Spas are being used by KAOS to sweat secrets out of people by using truth serum. The Chief and Max try out a steam, only to find the truth serum forcing them to exchange how they really feel about each other.
S05-E022 DVD 14 – 01 What’s It All About, Algie? Algie’s Nursery is using it’s plants to spy on important people in Washington. After a CONTROL agent disappears, Max goes to work in the nursery to crack the case.
S05-E023 DVD 14 – 02 Hello Columbus, Goodbye America Christopher Columbus’s descendant Gino becomes the owner of America. Max is assigned to keep Gino happy and keep KAOS away from Gino so that Gino can return the country to the president.
S05-E024 DVD 14 – 03 Do I Hear a Vaults The Chief decides to move the book, “Who’s Who in Control,” from the library to a bank vault. Unfortunately, Max locks the Chief and Larabee in the vault, where they will run out of air before the time lock opens the vault.
S05-E025 DVD 14 – 04 I Am Curiously Yellow The Whip has a special gong that places people under his control after they hear it ring. Max gets hypnotized and steals the NARCO 5-12 for the Whip. Cured of his hypnotism by a pill, Max, Larabee, and the Chief capture the Whip. As the final episode of the series ends, Larabee hits the gong, placing the Chief and CONTROL in his power.
